Как добраться?
Полуостров находится недалеко от Тивата и Котора. Добраться сюда можно на такси или арендованном автомобиле. Я бы посоветовала взять авто в аренду. Луштица полна красивых мест, но они удалены друг от друга, поселки крохотные с минимальной инфраструктурой. Со своей машиной будет удобно передвигаться между поселками и достопримечательностями.
How to get there?
Lustica is a peninsula located in Montenegro, and there are several ways to get there:
- By car: You can rent a car and drive to Lustica. If you’re coming from the north, you can take the Adriatic Highway and turn off at Kotor Bay. From there, follow the signs to Lustica. If you’re coming from the south, take the Adriatic Highway and turn off at Budva. From there, follow the signs to Lustica.
- By taxi: You can take a taxi from the airport or from any major city in Montenegro. Make sure to negotiate the price with the driver before getting in.
- By bus: There are regular bus services from major cities in Montenegro to Kotor and Tivat, which are the closest towns to Lustica. From Kotor or Tivat, you can take a taxi to Lustica.
- By boat: You can take a boat tour from Kotor or Tivat to Lustica. Boat tours usually include stops at several beaches and other attractions along the way.
Once you’re on the peninsula, you can explore Lustica by car, bike, or on foot. There are many scenic routes and trails to discover, as well as beaches, traditional villages, and local restaurants serving delicious seafood and other dishes.
What to see in Lustica?
1. The village Rose
A tiny village with just one street on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is cozy and cute. There is one large hotel here, but also small apartments are available for rent. Booking accommodation here is worthwhile only if you want seclusion, as this corner is too far from all other places. Unless you are willing to rent a boat to sail to the cities and restaurants on the opposite bank. Luxury Marina Porto Novi is not far away, or the entire city of Herceg Novi, where there is an old town, many cafes, beaches and shops.
If you walk around the hotel and continue further along the rocks, you may come across an old rusty ship.
Arza Fortress
Arza, situated on the Luštica peninsula along the Montenegrin coast, was erected during the Austro-Hungarian era, lasting a century. As you traverse the breathtaking entrance of Boka Bay, you’ll catch sight of this architectural gem. Arza was part of the 'Primorska Fortress of Boka', a military stronghold that included the fortification of Mamula on Luštica island and the Prevlaka Fort on Cape Ostro, making it the second most vital military base of the Austro-Hungarian empire along the Adriatic coast. Presently, the fortress is privately owned and is off-limits to visitors.
Gospa od Mirista
The Monastery complex on the island of Žanjice (Mirište) is located near the Fort Arza on the eastern side of the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. It is an intriguing complex of sacred, residential, and defensive architecture, featuring the church of St. Presentation built in two phases during the 15th century. It is believed that the church was initially covered with stone slabs, and the interior and western facade were adorned with frescoes, some traces of which are still visible today. The defensive walls, with one round corner tower, gave the monastery and its complex a unique appearance. The restoration of this monastery complex showcases the beauty and simplicity of the combination of the sea, stone, and its walls with the stunning little church.
The island and the church had various names over time, including Small Žanjice, Školj, and Little Lady. A document in the Kotor archives from 1508 contains a will by a certain Milo Rodi who donates a sum to the church of St. Mary “de Sagnic, ” or on Žanjica.
As for the Gasp of Mirište, it is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the surrounding sea of the Lustica Peninsula. The Gasp is a type of underwater hot spring, causing a sudden upsurge of bubbles, warm water, and even gas. This unusual occurrence is a result of the geological structure of the area and its underwater vents. The locals believe in the healing properties of the Gasp, and some even use it for cooking. However, visitors should be cautious when approaching the Gasp as sudden and strong bubbles can be dangerous.
Zanjice beach
Zanjice beach is a picturesque and secluded beach located on the Lustica peninsula in Montenegro. With crystal-clear waters and a peaceful ambiance, Zanjice beach is a hidden gem that offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
