Adriatica sits right on the water in Kamenari, on the Bay of Kotor: two terraces and a pier where couples say their vows. Here is how the zones work, how many guests fit, what the kitchen covers and how your guests get there.

If you want a wedding in Montenegro right at the water's edge, take a look at Adriatica. This wedding venue is in Kamenari, on the Bay of Kotor, and it gives you two terraces and a pier. The ceremony happens on the pier, with the sea and the mountains behind you. The lower terrace seats 100 guests comfortably and still leaves room for a dance floor.

We shot the dinner at Matej and Deeanna's wedding here at Adriatica, so this guide comes from what we saw on the day: which zones exist, how many guests fit, how they arrive and what you want to settle early.

Where Adriatica is

Adriatica works as a restaurant and beach club on the shore in Kamenari, in the municipality of Herceg Novi. The tables sit right by the water, olive trees grow around them, and the kitchen is Mediterranean with a focus on fish and seafood.

For a wedding, something else matters more: the spot is easy to reach for guests coming from different sides of the bay. The ferry between Kamenari and Lepetane runs nearby, so the drive from Tivat and Kotor is short and Tivat airport is close. Coming from Herceg Novi you stay on the coast road and skip the ferry entirely.

Why couples marry at Adriatica

The main reason is that the tables stand directly by the water. A wedding by the sea in Montenegro is literal here: guests sit a few metres from the water, and the pier where vows are exchanged is right there.

Ceremony on the pier. You stand above the water with the sea and the mountains behind you, and every guest has a clear view.
Arrival by water. Guests can reach the venue by sea, on a boat, and not only by car.
Two terraces instead of one. A large reception and a small dinner each have their own level.
Their own kitchen. The restaurant handles the menu and the service, so there is no outside caterer to find.

The zones and how many guests fit

The lower terrace

This is the main space for a big reception. It seats 100 guests and still leaves room for a dance floor, which means nobody has to move furniture halfway through the evening. The terrace runs along the water, so the view is open from every table.

The upper terrace

An option for up to 50 people. It suits a quieter dinner, when the guest list is short and the scale of the lower level would be too much.

The pier

The pier is where the ceremony takes place. There is one limitation worth knowing before you plan the day: if the ceremony is on the pier, you cannot land guests there from a boat. So either the guests arrive by water before the ceremony starts, or only the couple comes in by boat.

You can also split the day across both levels: welcome drinks upstairs, dinner and dancing downstairs. Guests then are not standing in one spot all evening, and the lower terrace gets finished off while they are away. Agree that plan with the venue in advance, together with the timing of the ceremony.

What happens if it rains

Honestly: there is no proper indoor room for a banquet here. There is a building on site, but it is small inside and weddings are not usually held in it. So the rain plan is something you settle early with your planner, and in May or October it deserves to be the first conversation you have.

Good to know: if guests come across on the ferry between Kamenari and Lepetane, give them extra time. In high season there can be a queue in the middle of the day, and guests arriving late to the ceremony push the whole evening back.

How the wedding day runs

Here is a real example. We photographed Matej and Deeanna's wedding in June: the ceremony took place at the Forza Mare hotel, and then the guests were brought to Adriatica by ship for dinner. We collected the couple separately on a beautiful boat, filmed them on board and from the drone on the way over, and arrived once the guests had gathered.

That arrival turned into one of the strongest scenes of the day. The guests stood on the pier and welcomed the couple with songs and applause, and we shot it from the water, from the boat. Then came dinner on the terrace, the toasts, live saxophone, a DJ, the cake and the first dance. The party carried on late into the night.

Coming in by water gives you images an ordinary arrival never will: we film the couple on the boat and from the drone on the way to the venue. Just remember the pier cannot be busy twice. If the ceremony is happening there, there is nowhere left to land your guests.Mariia Sosnina

How your guests get there

Adriatica has two workable options, and they solve different problems.

By car. The usual route for guests staying in Herceg Novi, Tivat or Kotor. From Tivat and Kotor the ferry is the short way across, from Herceg Novi you drive along the coast.
By water. Guests are brought to the venue by boat. It is not always the pricier choice, a lot depends on how many people you have, and the journey itself becomes part of the celebration.

The second option is almost always put together by a planner: the boat, the pick-up time, the boarding and the late return all have to be agreed. Guests will not organise a boat on their own.

Plan the way back at the same time as the way there. Nobody should be waiting by the water for a boat once the party has finished. And if the ceremony is on the pier, the guests' boat comes in before it starts, because there will be nowhere to step ashore later.

Where guests can stay

Nobody sleeps at the venue itself, Adriatica is a restaurant and beach club. There is a hotel nearby in Kamenari that we have written about separately: Casa del Mare works well as a base if you want the couple and close family a few steps from the party.

Everyone else usually stays in Herceg Novi, Tivat or Kotor. All three are close, which widens the choice at every budget. Two more venues sit right next door and we have covered both: Bocasa with its terrace reception and, a little further along the shore, Limoneto.

When to hold the wedding

The season here matches the rest of the coast: May to October. The months inside that window behave very differently, and your choice shapes the timing of the day.

July and August

The busiest and the hottest stretch. Standing on an open terrace in the middle of the day is hard on everyone, so the ceremony moves to the evening and the daytime hours go to getting ready. Traffic on the Kamenari to Lepetane ferry is heavy in these months, so guests need extra time.

May, June, September and October

Gentler weather and fewer people, but a higher chance of rain. That is exactly why the rain plan comes first at the edges of the season: you cannot put 100 guests under a roof at this venue.

What about the legal part

What to settle early

From what we see on shoots, these are the points that decide whether the evening runs smoothly or turns tense.

The date and the zone. Agree straight away whether you take the lower terrace with 100 guests or the upper one with up to 50, because the whole seating plan follows from it.
The timing of the ceremony. The pier is open to the sun and standing there in the heat is uncomfortable. An evening slot is kinder to your guests and better for the photographs.
Lighting for the evening. It gets dark by the water, and how the venue is lit changes the dinner and dancing photographs completely.
How guests travel. The ferry and parking for those driving. If some of them come by sea, the boat schedule in both directions.
Rain. There is no indoor room, so this needs deciding before you sign, not the day before the wedding.

How to book, and why you want a planner

A wedding at Adriatica is not the same as booking a table for the evening. There is a lot to pull together: dates in season, the menu and the bar, seating for 100, decor, sound and light, the timing of the ceremony on the pier, the documents for a legal marriage, the rain plan and, if you want it, a boat for your guests with a schedule in both directions.

At this venue a planner covers very concrete things: the contract and the deposit, the menu and the tasting, the seating across two terraces, the decor, sound and lighting suppliers, the timing of the whole day, the guests' boat and the backup plan for rain. Only someone who does this constantly and speaks the venue's language can hold all of it together. So here is my honest advice: hire a planner instead of running the correspondence with the venue, the kitchen and a boat owner yourself from another country. Is Adriatica worth it for your wedding

It is, if you want the water right there and a lively evening with no moving between venues. The ceremony on the pier, dinner on the terrace and dancing into the night all happen in one place, and your guests can arrive by sea. There is one limitation to know upfront: there is almost nowhere to shelter from rain.
