If you're after an intimate wedding in a historic spot in Perast, Leon Coronato is worth a look. It's Montenegro's first heritage hotel: a 17th-century Baroque palazzo on the Perast waterfront, on the Bay of Kotor, with its own garden restaurant, Đardin. Below we break down what makes it a good wedding venue and where to house your guests.
The venue at a glance
- A 17th-century Baroque palazzo on the Perast waterfront, on the Bay of Kotor.
- Weddings happen in the Đardin garden restaurant; the format is intimate, up to about 80 guests.
- The ceremony is in the garden or at another Perast venue, and afterwards we photograph the couple on a luxury boat and with a drone.
- You can stay at the hotel itself (14 rooms); the rest of your guests stay nearby or in Kotor.
Why Leon Coronato works for a wedding
This isn't a banquet hall, it's a living hotel in a historic palazzo, so a wedding here comes out intimate and full of character. Three things people come for:
- Atmosphere. 17th-century Baroque walls and the Perast waterfront, the kind modern venues just don't have.
- Water all around. Perast is ringed by the Bay of Kotor, so a shoot on the water really pays off here.
- Intimacy. A 30-80 guest format, where everyone's a familiar face and nothing gets lost.
Perast sits right on the water and feels wonderfully intimate. Straight after the ceremony we bring in a luxury boat for the couple and shoot right from it, with a drone over the bay too: the evening light on the water gives you the best frames of the day. Then we set dinner in the garden at an easy pace.Maria

How the wedding day unfolds
Everything is compact, and the day has a nice, easy logic.
Ceremony and photoshoot
The ceremony is set up in the hotel garden or at another Perast venue, for example Heritage Grand Perast. Right after, a luxury boat for the couple plus drone shots over the bay give you the best frames of the day. We don't dock at Our Lady of the Rocks, but a shoot on the water in Perast comes out especially striking.
Dinner and party
Dinner is usually set in the Đardin garden restaurant, and the evening carries on right there. Everything in one place, so your guests don't have to move around.
Good to know: the venue takes around 80 guests, but at that point it's tight. For that size it's easier to move dinner onto the terrace and keep the dance floor in the garden. Smaller weddings are the most comfortable fit here. |
Where to stay
Leon Coronato itself has 14 rooms, so the couple and some of the guests stay right at the venue, in the historic palazzo. The rest are easy to house nearby in Perast or in Kotor, about 15 km away, so the evening ends without long drives.
Food and menu
The Đardin restaurant is Mediterranean, with a focus on local produce and fish. For a wedding they put together a separate banquet menu. It's worth asking for a tasting in advance, before you even book the venue, so you choose with confidence rather than blind; your planner then coordinates the menu details and drinks with the hotel.
Where it is and how to get there
Leon Coronato stands on the Perast waterfront, on the Bay of Kotor. It's about 25 km from Tivat airport and about 15 km from Kotor. In summer cars aren't allowed into Perast: it's about a five-minute walk from the car park, or you can take the hotel buggy. 📍 Leon Coronato on the map
Why a wedding in Perast needs a planner
Leon Coronato is a working hotel and restaurant, not a wedding production line. A lot of moving parts stay behind the scenes: booking the hotel and the garden, the banquet menu and tasting, the official ceremony and paperwork, decor, sound, seating, the luxury boat for the shoot, and housing guests nearby and in Kotor. Pulling all of that into one day, without ending up 'working' at your own wedding, is nearly impossible without someone running it for you.
A good wedding planner takes these tasks on: coordinates everything with the hotel, books the date, puts together the budget, builds the timing around the light and the shoot on the water, and holds the whole thing together on the day while you simply enjoy it. For an intimate venue in a historic setting, that matters even more.
