A wedding by the water is not only about the views, it is also about the logistics: where to get ready in the morning, where to put up your guests, how to gather everyone in one spot by the evening. At Casa del Mare much of this sorts itself out. We photograph weddings all over Montenegro, so let us walk you through how to build the day nicely when you take the hotel as your base.
Casa del Mare at a glance
- An intimate boutique hotel right on the shore of the bay, in Kamenari, just across the road from the restaurants.
- The hotel makes an easy base: the newlyweds and some of the guests stay on site, and the morning getting-ready happens in the room.
- The ceremony is on the pier by the water, and the reception is right next door, at the restaurant Bocasa or Limoneto.
- The hotel has a small rooftop space that works for very small weddings.
What Casa del Mare is
Casa del Mare is an intimate boutique hotel on the shore of the Bay of Kotor in Kamenari. The mood is homey and calm, with a view over the water. The group has other hotels around the bay, but this is the one that sits right across the road from the restaurants. It is best to check the exact rooms and terms directly with the hotel.
The same group includes two restaurants on the shore, Bocasa and Limoneto. For a wedding that is the main convenience: the accommodation, the kitchen and the venue are all gathered in one place by the water. And the hotel itself has a small rooftop space that works for very small weddings.
Why the hotel makes an easy base for the wedding
When the newlyweds and some of the guests stay on site, the day feels calm. In the morning the getting-ready happens in the room, with no drive and no rush. The restaurant for the reception is literally across the road, so anyone staying at the hotel does not need to arrange a transfer late at night.
The morning after the wedding also starts slowly, by the sea. That is handy for the photography too: the getting-ready, the details and the first portraits can all be shot calmly right in the hotel and on the terrace.
How the wedding day unfolds with the hotel as your base
The day usually starts with getting ready in the room: the details, the dress, the makeup, and bridal portraits while the makeup is still fresh. If you like, you can do a first look with your bridesmaids or with dad. The groom gets ready with his friends in a separate room.
The ceremony takes place on the pier by the water, and the reception, dinner and party happen on the terrace of Bocasa or Limoneto, across the road. After the party no one has to go anywhere: guests staying at the hotel head off to their rooms, and the newlyweds stay right there by the shore.
Bocasa or Limoneto for the reception
Both restaurants are on the shore, a couple of steps from the hotel, and both work well for a reception by the water. The difference is mostly in the seating. Limoneto fits more guests and it is easier to set round tables there, so it is handier for larger weddings.
Bocasa has a more intimate format: usually a long table on the lower terrace and a few tables on the upper one, though round tables are possible too, it all depends on the number of guests. And for a really small wedding you can hold the reception on the rooftop space at the hotel. It is best to check the exact capacity for your format with your wedding planner or the venue.
Where it is and how to get there
Casa del Mare sits in Kamenari, on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, in the Herceg Novi municipality, right by the Kamenari to Lepetane ferry crossing. It is easy to reach from the Kotor and Tivat side as well as from Herceg Novi, and Tivat airport is very close. 📍 Casa del Mare on the map
How we photograph a wedding with Casa del Mare as your base
Having the base at the hotel frees things up in the morning: the getting-ready, the details and the first portraits are shot right in the room and on the terrace, and no one has to travel anywhere. The rooftop and the water give you different angles, so the shots do not all look the same. There is one local light nuance: because of the mountains the sun sets early, so the ceremony is usually set two or three hours before sunset.
We usually do the couple's photo session between the reception and dinner. The loveliest option is to take a boat out towards Perast and the islands: we shoot on the water and from the drone, and if there is time left, we add a few shots in Perast itself.
