Although we lived in Thailand for 5 years, during all this time we have never been to Koh Kood Island. We have been to Koh Chang many times, but somehow we didn’t have a chance to get to Kood.

But having arrived as tourists in Thailand, we went here two times.

Not the whole island is like that. There is a more lively part with expensive hotels and restaurants, but in general the infrastructure of the island is very little developed.

For example, we haven’t met a single decent grocery store, which is probably what we needed. I immediately remembered our first trip to Koh Chang even before moving, when with pleasure you only eat local food and drink local Chang beer)

You can get to the island by car + boat + transfer around the island. You can rent a bike on the island, or…. I do not know of any other means of transportation. Maybe you can order a tuk-tuk like a taxi.

We drove from Pattaya by our car, there we waited for the group to be gathered and taken to the pier to the boat. Then swim for about 40 minutes. The boat is wildly cold and the air conditioner is running at full capacity.

We lived in the simplest rooms, no air conditioning and no chic. Economy option for those who can sacrifice comfort. But, of course, there are hotels for every taste and budget. So I don’t have a photo in a white tub with flowers or a beautiful breakfast by the pool. But there are pictures from wild beaches, where there is almost nobody)

This is a piece of not our hotel, it stands on the river. We were just waiting for the boat there for transfer to the sand spit, which is higher in the photo.

While we constantly lived in Thailand, we have never encountered such a terrible phenomenon as sand flies. This time we were bitten on Koh Kuda and in ChonBuri province.

Sand flies are as small as biting flies. They are found in the sand, they are so tiny. They bite almost imperceptibly, but the body’s reaction is terrible. A large seal forms at the site of the bite, the bite itches madly, you can see the bite hole and the ichor oozes from it, it takes a long time — 1-2 months. Locals say that due to landfills and pollution of beaches, these flies have become much more. In general, beware of sand flies. Blood-sucking repellents help. But using them during the day on the beach is somehow wild (
