A wedding villa in Montenegro is a private villa that you rent for your celebration and where you also hold the wedding itself. You rent the villa not for a single evening but usually for 3 nights, and the price depends on the maximum number of guests: roughly from €5,000 for 10 people and from €7,500 for 25. Let's be honest about capacity right away: there are few large villas in the country, and none will host 100 guests overnight. We, Mariia Sosnina and Vasilii Khmelev, have been photographing weddings in Montenegro for more than 10 years, and below we give an honest breakdown of the rental, prices, pros and cons, plus real villas.

A wedding villa in Montenegro, in short

  • Villa rental: the villa is usually rented for 3 nights.
  • Price by capacity: roughly from €5,000 for 10 guests and from €7,500 for 25.
  • Honest capacity: large villas are rare, and none sleeps 100 guests overnight.
  • Total privacy: the whole villa is yours alone, that's the main plus.
  • What the villa gives you: a pool, a catering kitchen and guest bathrooms, sometimes overnight stays.
  • Everything for the celebration is brought in separately: the arch, bar, decor, furniture and tableware are ordered and delivered by the organizer.

A villa is just one of the formats. We compared all the options in our guide to wedding venues in Montenegro.

What a villa wedding in Montenegro is and who it suits

A villa wedding in Montenegro is when you rent an entire villa, stay in it and hold the celebration right there. The villa is usually rented for 3 nights: the wedding takes place where you live, so the venue and the accommodation end up in one spot.

This format is perfect for a couple who want privacy and are ready to host some of their guests on site. But with a very large wedding of 100+ people there's a catch: Montenegro simply has no villas where everyone fits overnight, so some guests stay nearby or you arrange a transfer. If you need bigger capacity or a turnkey venue, it's more honest to compare wedding venues in Montenegro and perhaps choose a restaurant or hotel.

How much it costs to rent a wedding villa in Montenegro

The villa is usually rented for 3 nights, and the price depends on the maximum number of guests: roughly from €5,000 for 10 people and from €7,500 for 25. That's the rental of the villa itself, without catering, decor or staff.

up to 25 guestsfrom €7,500the same, the whole villa for ~3 nightssome villas offer overnight stays

It's important to remember that the villa rental is just one line in the budget. On top of that come catering, decor, furniture rental, equipment and staff, and all of this is usually handled by the organizer. We put together the full breakdown with numbers in our guide to the average cost of a wedding in Montenegro.

The upsides of a villa wedding

The main upside of a private wedding villa is obvious: it's a venue that belongs entirely to you for the whole rental period.

  • Privacy and your own timing: no other guests, no parallel receptions, you build the day the way you like, not around a venue's slots.
  • Wedding and holiday together: you arrive a couple of days early, settle in, and for all 3 nights only your nearest and dearest are around.
  • Staying over on site: at some villas the couple and some of the guests stay the night, no late transfers to a hotel needed.
  • Ready-made views for the shoot: olive groves, a pool, a sea or bay view, that's a backdrop for photos without driving between locations.

The downsides of a villa wedding and what to keep in mind

Here's the honest catch: a villa is a beautiful venue with a pool, a kitchen and bathrooms, but the event itself is assembled there separately. Tables, chairs, decor, the wedding arch, the bar and tableware are brought in and set up for the specific wedding, and this is usually handled by the organizer.

What to plan for in advance: furniture, decor, tableware, the arch and the bar are brought to the villa as rentals, and the organizer takes care of delivery and setup. You won't have to do any of this by hand, but it's a separate line of costs and extra coordination. At a ready restaurant venue much of this is already included.

  • Everything for the celebration comes separately: decor, furniture, tableware, the arch and the bar are rented and delivered by the organizer, that's added to the budget.
  • Staff: you need separate waiters and service staff.
  • Logistics: transfers for guests to the villa, which sometimes sits off the beaten track, plus breakfast for those who stay over.
  • Guests' rhythm: some go to bed early, and the party quiets down.

Also keep in mind: not all villas allow weddings and parties, many sit far from towns, and there are very few with large capacity.

Wedding villas in Montenegro: real examples

Below are real villas where weddings are held. Over more than 10 years we've photographed at many of them.

A villa in authentic Montenegrin and Italian style, Talići Hill, near Sutomore: up to 25 guests overnight and roughly up to 200 people for the reception. A villa on Lustica: 10 guests overnight and up to 40 for the reception.

1. Talici Hill Villa

Talici Hill Villa

Historical Legacy: This villa, dating back to the 17th century, narrates a rich history, meticulously preserved by the Čakalović family. Handcrafted furniture and local stone restoration pay homage to Montenegro’s heritage.

Luxurious Accommodations: Seven opulent suites, accommodating up to 18 guests, showcase a blend of tradition and modern comfort.

Outdoor Splendor: The villa’s 7,000 sq.m garden and private infinity pool create a serene Mediterranean atmosphere.

Event Hosting: With a capacity for up to 250 guests, it’s perfect for grand celebrations or intimate gatherings.

Villa Nikčević

Seaside villa in Dobrota. A three-story villa in a large garden right by the water, with a private pool, a private beach and dock, a fully equipped kitchen and private parking.

Ceremony and banquet: vows on a picturesque pier with sweeping views of the Adriatic and the mountains of the Bay of Kotor, then the banquet on the pier, by the pool or in the garden.

More in our guide to Villa Nikčević.

Another proven venue is Villa Nikčević in Dobrota. Couples also often choose the villas Eagle Eye, Villa Stari Mlin, Mona Lisa, Malo Selo and Montebay Retreat.

Searching for a wedding villa is easiest by region. There are plenty of options around Kotor, you'll find villas along the coast of Budva, and also in the Bay of Kotor and on Lustica. Keep in mind that some sit off the beaten track, so it's worth planning guest transfers in advance.

How to choose a villa and organize the wedding

Of all the formats, a villa takes the most organizing: you assemble the event from scratch, from decor to logistics. That's why you need an experienced local organizer, and you should book the villa and the date early, at least a year ahead.

We covered where to start choosing a specialist in our guide to how to choose a wedding planner in Montenegro. And to make sure you don't forget anything along the way, keep our wedding checklist for Montenegro at hand.

Frequently asked questions about wedding villas

How much does it cost to rent a villa for a wedding in Montenegro?

The villa is usually rented for 3 nights, and the price depends on the maximum number of guests: roughly from €5,000 for 10 people and from €7,500 for 25. That's the villa rental only, without catering, decor or staff.

Can guests stay overnight at the villa?

At some villas you can stay the night, and then the couple and their guests live right on site. But large villas are rare, and none will host 100 people overnight.

How many guests does a wedding villa hold?

It varies, and the number of guests for the reception and for overnight stays is usually different. For example, Talići Hill takes up to 25 guests overnight and roughly up to 200 for the reception, while a villa on Lustica takes 10 overnight and up to 40 for the reception.

What's included in a villa rental for a wedding?

You get the whole villa, usually for 3 nights. There's often a pool, a catering kitchen and guest bathrooms, sometimes overnight stays for the couple and some of the guests. The wedding arch, bar, decor, furniture and tableware are ordered separately, and this is usually handled by the organizer.

How does a villa wedding differ from a wedding at a restaurant?

A villa gives privacy and full control, but the celebration is assembled from scratch: decor, furniture, staff and logistics are ordered separately. A restaurant is closer to a turnkey format and simpler for a large wedding.

Which region of Montenegro should you look for a wedding villa in?

Convenient regions: around Kotor and Budva, the Bay of Kotor, Lustica and the Sutomore area. Villas are scattered across the country, and some sit off the beaten track, so plan guest transfers in advance.

A villa wedding: the honest bottom line

A wedding villa in Montenegro is about privacy and full control over the day, but you pay for that by having the celebration assembled for you from scratch: the villa rental, decor, staff and logistics all add to the budget. If this is your format, a villa will give you an intimate wedding like no other.
